About us
Consortium
is an association of two or more individuals, companies, or organizations with the objective of participating in a common activity or pooling their resources for achieving a common goal. kən-ˈsȯr-sh(ē-)əm , -ˈsȯr-tē-əm
The Consortium
brings experienced specialists as a team to answer challenges you may face.
OUR HISTORY
Our story begins in the warmth of a family kitchen, in the lush bayou of Mandeville, Louisiana.
This is where current CEO GA Michael Christy formed the inceptive notion of providing quality financial planning for all communities, regardless of status and background. This is what would set the Consortium apart from average firms.
The word consortium means multiple businesses or companies, coming together for the same common goal. As a non proprietary company, we are able to put our clients needs above product, and tailor a strategy to assist them in reaching their goals.
The founders of the consortium have been in the business for 20 years. During this time they have worked for multiple companies which lead them to obtain all different aspects of the financial industry, both good and bad. From this journey, they were able to implement a better way to assist the challenges clientele face way beyond retirement leading into a reassuring future.

Our Team Of Financial Professionals
The Consortium is a multi-faceted firm with agents, and advisors all over the U.S. Just as our name implies, we work with experts in every area that influence your personal wealth and/or business growth. These experts specialize in benefits, insurance, business/estate evaluation and investments. We also have access to the finest lawyers, CFP, estate, and business planning attorneys in the country. We value ourselves on being a fiduciary for our clients. Rather than selling products, we consult with our clients to assess their needs and budget to make sure we implement the best solution, striving to put our clients in a better financial position.
Michael Christy
Chairman & CEO, Senior Financial Advisor
The Consortium’s CEO grew up in Lancaster, Ohio and studied History and Political Science at Ohio University. A planned path to law school changed course when an early role in banking sparked a lasting passion for capital markets and comprehensive financial planning. Today, he guides The Consortium’s firmwide strategy—shaping planning standards, overseeing investment philosophy, and developing advisor talent.
Since co-founding the firm in 2018, he has built a high-performing advisory platform with more than fifty professionals operating across ten states. His north star is simple: deliver clear, conflict-aware advice that helps families and business owners make smarter decisions about risk, taxes, cash flow, and legacy.
Away from the office, he supports arts education as a board member of the Northshore Performing Arts Center and volunteers with organizations throughout the New Orleans area. He has two daughters—Catherine and Caitlyn—and, as a lifelong golfer, he credits the game for reinforcing the same values he expects in advisory work: honor, pride, and honesty.

Allen Churchill
Managing Director, Senior Financial Advisor
A graduate of the George Washington University Allen worked in public affairs with highlights including stints at the National Republican Congressional committee, Hill and Knowlton, and training Ukranian and Moldavian democracy activists. In 2006, he joined A. G. Edwards in Mandeville, LA. This was the first of several firms that he worked with in the post 2008 crash environment going through five mergers. This experience as well as going through the oil crash in the 1980”s gave him an acute sense of booms and busts that occur in markets. During this time, he developed a passion for long term care planning due to chronic illness in his family. In 2020, he was recruited by Mike Christy to join The Consortium. In 2022, he was promoted to managing director and broadened his practice to include protecting clients from additional retirement risks including market crashes, longevity, chronic illness, inflation and growth issues. This broadened focus includes attention to issues faced by small business owners including buy-sell agreements, business succession planning, retirement plans, deferred compensation, and employee benefits. Mr. Churchill employs a team approach bringing in subject specific experts as required. He is happily married to his wife, Kelli, a Mandeville area mental health therapist, and is active in his church.

Andrew Vogelaar
Director of Business Development
I was born and raised in New Orleans, and I’m a dedicated insurance and financial services professional committed to helping individuals and businesses protect their financial future. I’m a proud graduate of Archbishop Rummel High School, where Ilearned the importance of discipline, integrity, and perseverance early in life. I also attended Delgado Community College, where I studied business management and played collegiate baseball. Competing at that level helped sharpen my leadership
skills, work ethic, and competitive drive—traits that continue to guide me professionally.
In 2017, I earned my Life and Health Insurance license and went on to serve as a District Sales Coordinator. In that role, I managed a team of 15 agents, developed strategic sales plans, consistently met and exceeded annual quotas, and achieved recruiting goals. That experience laid a strong foundation in leadership, risk management, and financial planning. Today, I use my background in wealth management and strategic financial planning to provide clients with customized solutions that align with their goals. Whether I’m helping someone understand their insurance options or building a long-term financial strategy, I take a personal, thoughtful approach designed to deliver confidence, clarity, and peace
of mind.

Michael Christy
Chairman & CEO, Senior Financial Advisor
Before leading The Consortium, he built his reputation inside the insurance and benefits arena. He began at a major carrier, quickly earning leader’s-level status and qualifying for the Million Dollar Round Table seven consecutive years. His success and mentoring mindset led to his appointment as General Agent for Ameritas Life Insurance Company in New Orleans, where he grew a multi-state agency footprint and trained advisors in advanced protection strategies.
His technical focus spans individual life and disability insurance, executive and key-person coverage, buy-sell funding, and tax-advantaged benefit designs. On the group side, he consults on medical, ancillary, and voluntary benefits—aligning plan design, compliance, and enrollment strategy to help employers compete for talent while managing cost.
He started Consortium to bring this protection-first approach under one roof with wealth planning. He continues to coach advisors on underwriting, carrier selection, and case design, ensuring clients receive durable, needs-based coverage. When not meeting with employers or carriers, you’ll likely find him giving back in the New Orleans community—or chasing one more birdie on the golf course.

Shelby Ferguson
Director of Business Development
I began my career in the insurance industry more than 13 years ago and have represented many different insurance and personal protection products. For seven of those years, my practice consisted primarily of passionately assisting Medicare beneficiaries with obtaining health products and federal and state assistance. More recently, I have expanded my practice and now focus on helping businesses, small and large, with business development and employee benefits.
I am honored to represent The Consortium and to work with other professionals to assist with all business development needs! I am responsible for bringing The Consortium into Central and North Louisiana. I’ll be training and growing a team of passionate and knowledgeable professionals, developing relationships and creating opportunities for business owners, and creatively assisting business owners with comprehensive, customized benefit packages.
When I am not working, my absolute favorite thing to do is to just be with my family; it doesn’t matter what we are doing. Some of my other hobbies include cooking, reading, writing, and traveling. Over the years, I have worked diligently to obtain education, licensing, and certifications, and to learn from experience to ensure that I perform my duties with knowledge, passion, and understanding. I have learned that to truly help, we must first understand. I am proud to have received numerous accolades throughout my career; however, the true reward has always been making a difference in the lives of my clients. I am committed to continuing to help and serve my clients and to perform my job with professionalism, honesty, and integrity. It is my goal to always be a valued resource.
